Busiest Week Ever!

This is one week that I am very glad to see come to an end!  I'm sure this is a very busy time for everyone...especially those in education trying to wrap up the school year.  This has been a week where I have been so focused on my work that I have had to miss out on fun family times, which is upsetting.  I just finished up the last bit of work for one of my two classes for this semester.  While I enjoyed them both, part of me is wishing I had taken these two classes separately so I could have balanced a little better between them, my family, and work.  However, I do feel a sense of accomplishment and have a great integrated unit (Science, ELA, and Technology) to share with my grade-level because of it.  :)  I would really like to thank everyone in my group for ECOMP 6019.  You guys were so supportive and did a great job in the debate.  I am proud to have "met" all of you.  

Boston Marathon Tragedy

I have been glued to the TV since getting home from school today.  Since I teach all day, I am closed up in a classroom with no media feed.  I did, however, get a post on a picture that my cousin tagged me in on Facebook.  The post was from a high school friend stating "Is Michael ok?  Was he impacted by the explosion?  Please update us if you can."  My brother ran in the Boston Marathon today and we hadn't heard from him yet.  Needless to say I panicked after seeing this post!  Social media is great, but in a case like this...I'd rather not see the new on Facebook.  About an hour later, we received a text from Michael letting us know that he was ok and was headed back to Philly.   This evening, I am praising God for the safety of my brother and am praying continuously for those whose lives were affected by this incident.  Here is a picture taken of my brother just a few minutes before the explosion:

Fantastic Family Weekend!

We had a full, fun-filled weekend between Opening Day for t-ball and G-Pop's birthday.  Saturday was  Kadence and Zachary's first game ever and I think it went well.  Both kids enjoyed it, despite Zachary getting kicked in the face and having crocodile tears rolling down his cheek in the first inning.  They both hit well and were great in the outfield!  Kadence has no problem throwing herself in front of the ball!!!  Zachary has decided that he likes to bat left-handed, which he tried for the first time at the game.  He bats much better this way, so I'm proud of him for trying something new.  Here are some pictures:

On Sunday, we went to my Dad's new house in Columbia on Lake Murray to celebrate his birthday.  We all had an awesome time visiting and enjoyed our afternoon out on the lake...despite the clouds.  The kids went fishing using the new fishing poles that they got for their birthdays.  They also got to help driving the boat, which was a BIG hit!  Here are some pictures of our fun day:

Practice, Practice, and More Practice!

Well, baseball season is in full swing now and we have been practing a lot!  Kadence is still very enthusiastic about it. Zachary on the other hand, could still care less!  He has fun while he's there, but 90% of the time plays with friends and talks about doing gymnastics.  I know what we'll be doing this winter!  I did catch him in a good moment when he was running bases and at least looked interested.

Flocking Has Begun!

Our Relay for Life Team recently started flocking friends with flamingos to support efforts in raising funds for the American Cancer Society.  My mom was the first "victim," thanks to Jill's dad for nominating her.  I was surprised that she was a good sport about the whole thing.  She payed extra money to find out who flocked her and then decided to pay the extra $10 to flock him back.  Nothing like a friendly neighbor war to raise money for a good cause!  Spring Break has allowed for lots of homes to be flocked, so it's been interesting to see all the different pictures posting on Facebook.  :)
